LST (Landing Ship Tank, LST-559)

LST-559, a WWII landing ship deliberately scuttled in 1946 between Grande Island and the airfield's southern tip. Sits upright at 26-36m with an intact vehicle deck; an advanced dive known for its resident grouper.

The LST rests upright in 26 to 36 meters of water between Grande Island and the airfield, deliberately scuttled after WWII service moving troops, vehicles, and cargo directly onto beaches. Local operators describe its vehicle deck as football-pitch sized, open at both ends, with forward gun platforms still in place though the weapons are long gone. It's an advanced dive, and divers regularly report a large resident grouper on site.
