Fort Wint
Fort Wint occupies Grande Island at the mouth of the bay, one of four harbour-defence forts the United States built across the entrances to Manila and Subic bays before the Second World War. Reaching it means a short boat ride, usually arranged through Grande Island Resort's ferry terminal on the mainland or a local dive or tour operator; there is no way in by road. What is left are weathered gun batteries and bunkers among the trees, with clear water off the shore. Boat schedules and fees change, so settle them with the operator before you go.
